Michael Phelps sends rallying cry to Michigan fans ahead of Ann Arbor showdown after being confirmed for College Gameday


MICHAEL Phelps is branching out of the world of swimming to cheer on his college football squad.

Phelps is an alumni of the University of Michigan, and he is going to be in person to cheer on his team this weekend.

Phelps was announced as a guest picker on College GameDay for week 2, and gave a passionate message to fans ahead of his feature.

“I am coming to tell you that I am going to be on College GameDay for the very first time,” Phelps said.

“Super pumped to be with the crew, can’t wait to pick some games, and have some fun and some laughs.”

While Phelps was excited to make his appearance on GameDay, he appeared more excited to make a callout to Michigan fans.

“Most importantly, cheer on big blue,” he said.

“Come on y’all, let’s get the big house loud and rowdy. We welcome the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.

“I got one thing to say, let’s go blue!”

Fans were thrilled to hear that Phelps is making an appearance and shared their excitement on social media.

“Michael Phelps and Derek Jeter are in the building , and UT fans will still tell you they are winning,” one fan said.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the GOAT will be there. Let’s go Blue!” another fan said.


“LOVE to see so many sporting the M and supporting The Wolverines!” a third fan said.

“Saturday is going to be such a party in A2,” a fourth fan said.

Michigan is taking on Texas on Saturday, and it is a matchup between top-25 teams.

Texas is ranked as the No. 3 team in the country, while Michigan is ranked as the No. 10 team.

Texas won their opening game 52-0 against Colorado State.

Michigan also came out on top in their opener against Fresno State 30-10.

Both teams took a trip to the College Football Playoff last season, but Michigan took home the national championship.

With the expanded 12-team playoff, both teams are expected to contend for a spot, but the loser of Saturday’s game will have a tougher road.

Texas is favored to win the Week 2 matchup by seven points, but Michigan has home field advantage.
