Among the few crews who have made it to the final saga in One Piece, the one that has achieved this with the least amount of effort is the Cross Guild organization. Although the organization was created by Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk, it is being led by Buggy, who is now one of the four Emperors of the Sea and has helped the organization gain a lot of influence in the pirate world.
Although the organization has a lot of members, there have been theories about other major characters joining Cross Guild. Be it members of the Big Mom Pirates or the leftover crew of Whitebeard Pirates, the hype around the Cross Guild as one of the main competitors for the One Piece treasure makes it alluring.
While there is no way to confirm the theories, Eiichiro Oda recently gave a big clue about adding more members to the organization in the future. And one of those members could be Perona, Mihawk’s only friend in One Piece.
Perona And Mihawk’s Relationship
One of the major antagonists of the Thriller Bark arc, Perona, was sent to Kuraigana Island by Bartholomew Kuma, where she met Mihawk for the first time. Mihawk didn’t mind her staying with him as he trained Roronoa Zoro during the time skip. Not only that, she even tended to Zoro’s wounds, showing her empathetic side.
While Mihawk didn’t have any major reaction to Perona staying with him in the castle, he did care for her in his own way. This was reflected when Perona decided to go find Gecko Moria and leave the Kuraigana island for good. Mihawk asked her to be safe, hinting at his feelings for Perona as she was the only friend he had.
Even Perona showed her profound affection for Mihawk by breaking down in tears when she said goodbye to him. Although their relationship has not been a major point of concern for One Piece fans, it did give a sense of humanity to Mihawk’s personality, which helped in his character development.
Perona Might Join The Cross Guild Organization
Popular One Piece fan page @pewpiece recently gave new insight on Buggy’s Vivre Card, where Oda has mentioned that he is planning to add more members to the Cross Guild organization. As the Cross Guild will be a part of the final war, they certainly need more strength, and there is a chance that Perona might join them.
Eiichiro Oda also added early sketches of the Cross Guild along with the Vivre Card, and one of them featured Perona as a member of the organization. However, according to the narrative, Oda dropped this plan and decided to make Perona a part of the events going on Hachinosu Island.
Still, there is a chance that Perona might reunite with Mihawk and join the organization after all and become one of the strongest characters within Cross Guild.

If this happens, it might give an extra boost to the strength of Cross Guild and make them a better opponent in the final One Piece war.
