We’re fast approaching October which means Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is about to be one year old. During that time, Insomniac Games have been patching/updating the game; delivering new suits, bug fixes, and the long awaited New Game Plus feature.
Meanwhile, fans have been clamoring for the studio to announce something new related to its Marvel projects. Whether it’d be Spider-Man 2 DLC or Marvel’s Wolverine, fans want some transparency on what the Burbank studio is working on.
After the events that occurred at the tail end of 2023, Insomniac Games deserve some privacy. The team was victim to one of the biggest ransomware attacks in the games industry. Nearly two terabytes worth of information was dumped online in a malicious manner including employee data and assets for upcoming projects.
It’s awesome to see fans still excited over Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but the community really needs to chill out when it comes to Insomniac Games’ future projects. The team will tell us new information when the time is right.
Where Did “Spider-Man 2 DLC” Come From?
If you were one of the many fans online who looked through the leaked documents from the ransomware attack, you might have seen plans for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to receive additional content post launch.
Whether fans would have to pay for this content or be delivered as a free update, this “confirmed” in many fans’ minds that DLC is coming to Spider-Man 2. While it would be exciting to explore more of Insomniac’s Marvel world, all of this information and more was not meant to be seen publicly.
The community needs to be reminded that everything in those leaks was taken right from Insomniac Games from an outside party. A party who hacked the studio to steal information in an attempt to receive payment for not leaking it.
We have nothing new to announce.

For all intents and purposes, everything in those leaks should not be treated as official confirmation. We should be whipping those images and leaked gameplay videos from our minds and pretend none of the data was dumped online.
Recovering from an attack of that size will affect projects internally. The New Game Plus update took some additional time to release as an example. Marvel’s Wolverine is Insomniac’s next project and we should be content with that. Anything else from the studio is a bonus at this point.
Is The Spider-Man 2 DLC Even Real?
While the first entry had planned DLC, there was never a formal DLC announcement for the sequel. The community should not expect anything from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but if Insomniac Games were to announce a new update for the game, the one year anniversary is approaching.
Don’t hold your breath on it though as the Insomniac Games Twitter/X account has been constantly turning down fans asking about Spider-Man 2 DLC.
No.

Even on news related to Marvel’s Wolverine, fans are shut down instantly. Do fans really expect to be handed news by asking on Twitter/X? The leaked data has made the community almost entitled to new information regarding Insomniac Games’ upcoming projects.
Ashamed the fans have turned this way because Insomniac Games have been nothing but accommodating and respectful to the Spider-Man IP. The team did not have to add the Webbed Suit but it’s in the game. The popular request to add Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man suit became a reality because of Insomniac’s love for Spider-Man and desire to please the community.
We have a special holiday gift for #SpiderManPS4 players. Today’s game update will include a highly requested suit. Hint: It’s webbed and it’s FREE for owners of Marvel’s Spider-Man! pic.twitter.com/6DLTxPFSaE

Working on Marvel properties is a blessing and a curse for Insomniac Games. The team are well known for its work on Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance but also worked on other projects like Sunset Overdrive and Song of the Deep. Now part of the Marvel machine, the fandom comes with it.
When the games are ready to be shown, then PlayStation and Insomniac will formally announce them. Otherwise, stay in the dark and wait for official confirmation.
It’s not like Naughty Dog’s Twitter/X account is being bombarded with fans asking about The Last of Us Part III or whatever comes next for that studio. When the timing is right, everyone will get to know about it.
Whether it’s Insomniac Games or any other video game studio, we as fans are not entitled to know every single thing the developers are working on.
Let them work and we’ll see the fantastic games soon enough.
