In a competitive feud between One Piece and Naruto fans, an X user posted a short video of Dracule Mihawk vs Killer Bee. The video suggested how overpowered Mihawk is in comparison to Naruto characters that the strongest swordsman only needed the small knife he keeps on his iconic cross-shaped necklace.
This is reminiscent of his first fight with Roronoa Zoro during the Baratie Arc where he called the swordsman a “weak one” and even compared the fight to hunting to a rabbit. In the fictional crossover between the swordsman and Killer Bee, it seems Mihawk is showing the same mercy.
This crossover has not only delighted anime enthusiasts but also sparked discussions about just how overpowered One Piece characters are and how Eiichiro Oda has made them untouchable even to characters outside of the One Piece world. If a shinobi as powerful as Killer Bee can’t handle the likes of Mihawk, exactly how overpowered has Oda made him?
The Undefeated and Mysterious Dracule Mihawk
Dracule Mihawk is the “Strongest Swordsman in the World” in One Piece. The man is feared for his exquisite swordsmanship and mastery of the blade. Although much of Mihawk’s background remains shrouded in mystery, his calm demeanor and effortless control of his swords solidify him as a legendary figure in One Piece. He is also known as the “Marine Hunter.”
Initially the rival of Shanks, he now waits for Roronoa Zoro to reach his level. His primary weapon is his iconic black sword named Yoru, one of the world’s 12 Supreme Grade Blades. However, he also carries a small blade in his cross necklace and still does precise damage with it. This only goes to show how skilled the man is, thanks to Eiichiro Oda’s writing.
The man is first introduced during the Baratie Arc after he cuts down Don Kreig’s massive ship in half. In Marineford, we witness him cutting down the frozen tsunamis from a distance. Mihawk also trains Zoro to be the powerful swordsman he is today, despite being rivals. He later establishes the Cross Guild with Sir Crocodile and Buggy. We still don’t know enough about him but enough about his strength to never question his status as the “Strongest Swordsman in the World.”
The Weird Power Scaling in One Piece
Fans are actually excited by this crossover and the possibilities it brings up for different kinds of fights. Many joked that even Zoro could use no swords and defeat Killer Bee because of how insane the power scaling in One Piece is. So as the strongest swordsman, he could instantly defeat Killer Bee.
It also goes to show how intense and exaggerated the battles are in One Piece. It makes sense with Eiichiro Oda and his need to have fun. The author made the ability to become rubber one of the most powerful Devil Fruits ever so the title of Strong Swordsman is easily one of the more realistic ones.
One Piece and Naruto are available on Crunchyroll.
