Chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen put an end to the beloved series that has been serializing for over six years. The popular manga has stolen the hearts of numerous otakus with its action-packed plot, complex power system, and handsome characters.
However, its ending is considered extremely controversial due to various reasons. When Akutami announced that the manga would be ending in five chapters, no one was ready for it. The finale indeed felt rushed, and it was Gojo who became the center of attention once again.
Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi Return to Simpler Missions in Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Final Chapter
Sukuna has been defeated, along with the most major threats to the jujutsu world. An era of peace has begun until another threat emerges. In chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi have once again returned to simpler missions along with their usual banters.
The last chapter gave a glimpse into the new mission of the trio. It wasn’t nearly as thrilling as the ones that Gojo used to force on them, but it was a reminder that the hardest of adventures are over. The latest assignment required the three to capture a mysterious curse user. Yuji and Nobara get sidetracked with their silliness, and Megumi struggles to make them concentrate.
However, by the end of the quest, they realize it wasn’t a curse but simply a man who was on a revenge spree due to their misguided feelings. The perp realizes his mistake a little too late and is arrested. But Yuji, being the kind man he is, gives the guy a pep-talk and welcomes him to join them once he has atoned for his sins.
Gojo’s Final Words Come True in Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Finale
The last chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen showed a conversation between Gojo and Yuji as a flashback. In this scene, Gojo admits that what mattered was the future and how Yuji wants to face it. He was aware that he might not exist in the future and thus wished for Yuji to carry on in his absence. His final words to Yuji were:
You might remember that the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen began with Yuji Itadori eating Sukuna’s finger. While the King of Curses could not take control of Yuji’s body, his dumb mistake was too dangerous to be ignored by the jujutsu society. Yuji was supposed to be executed, along with Sukuna’s soul inside of him; however, it was Gojo who stopped it from happening.
Gojo saw Yuji’s potential and gave him a second chance at life, risking his own position. In the last chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji walks in Gojo’s footsteps and shows compassion to a misguided person who has a chance at salvation. Just like Gojo, Yuji gives the man another chance and invites him to join the team. It can be said that he has successfully paid forward Gojo’s favor.
