Jeopardy! star Amy Schneider reveals her arm tattoo’s powerful meaning as fans take notice during summer reruns

Amy is facing Victoria Groce and Andrew He in the JIT finals, which are re-airing this week at the tail end of summer reruns.

The inaugural JIT, which invited back 27 game show greats from across Jeopardy!’s 60-year history, initially aired in the spring.

On Thursday’s episode, Amy competed in a chic pink dress, flaunting her arm tattoo.

The sleeveless floral outfit made the image of a mythical female figure with flowing hair hard to miss.

‘PERFECT IMAGE’

The 40-day champion shared in 2021 that the artwork is to “commemorate her transition.”

“My tattoo is indeed of Ozma of Oz. For those who don’t know, L. Frank Baum wrote many sequels to The Wizard of Oz, and in all of them the ruler of Oz was Princess Ozma,” Amy wrote on X.

“She had been the rightful heir, but was kidnapped as a baby by a sorceress, who enchanted her to become a boy.”

“Eventually, the enchantment is lifted, and she is revealed to be the beautiful princess she always was,” added Amy.

“So it seemed like the perfect image to commemorate my transition!”

‘LOVE THIS!’

In the replies, fans gushed over Amy’s story and how it incorporated her personal life and her love of trivia.

“My fav movie, but I did not know about sequels. Wow,” one fan wrote at the time.

“My eyes welled, and my heart swelled,” wrote another.

“Oh my gosh, I love this!” penned a third.

As fans may know, Amy (spoiler alert!) did not win the mini-tournament, placing second.

Victoria, best known from The Chase, who had last competed on Jeopardy! in 2005, becoming a mere one-day champ, won the event.

While Amy won the first game of the finals, Victoria won the last two- with two bringing victory.

Jeopardy! 2025 Tournament of Champions

Jeopardy!’s next Tournament of Champions will take place this winter, midway through Season 41 (exact airdate TBA) and it’s shaping up to be another showstopper. Here’s who is officially eligible so far:

The prize for winning the ToC is $250,000 and a coveted slot in Jeopardy! Masters.

Jeopardy.com notes: “All 4-time and over winning players starting from 04/10/24 will be eligible for a future Tournament of Champions.”

“Presence on this list does NOT guarantee an invitation to compete. Other eligibility rules apply and final selection is up to the producers’ sole discretion.”

Victoria went on to win Masters 2024 as well in her own Cinderella story.

That said, Amy boasts the second-longest streak ever, winning the 2022 Tournament of Champions and $1,682,800 in all-time earnings—nothing to sneeze at.

She also made history as the first transgender Tournament of Champions winner.

Amy is married to Genevieve Davis, 25, who cheered her on from the audience during her various show triumphs.

They tied the knot in a small private ceremony on May 9, 2022 at a courthouse in California.

In 2024, Amy also put out her first memoir, which gets into her first marriage, transition, past battle with drug use, and how trivia saved her.

JEOPARDY! SEASON 41

Meanwhile, Jeopardy!’s new season is right around the corner.

After six weeks of reruns, Season 41 premieres on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Rachel Bradley, the one-day champion when Season 40 ended, will return to try for a second win.

Season 41 will last 11 months and ends on Friday, July 25, 2025.

New episodes air weeknights (even on major U.S. holidays) at 7 p.m. EST.

Syndicated or nightly Jeopardy! is hosted by G.O.A.T contestant Ken Jennings.

In a first, Ken will be the singular official host as actress Mayim Bialik was dismissed as co-host midway through last season.

Show bosses made clear last month that she isn’t coming back, even for Celebrity Jeopardy!, by removing her from their website.

Meanwhile, fans with “tournament fatigue” can rest easy because Season 41 will emphasize new players.

Unlike the previous season, Season 41 primarily consists of the tried-and-true format.

The season will begin with regular-style games of brand-new contestants- not tournaments.

Then, the 2025 Tournament of Champions (preceded by the Second Chance Competition and Champions Wildcard) will be held in winter, midway through Season 41.

The Jeopardy!-verse is also expanding with Pop Culture Jeopardy! hosted by Colin Jost on Amazon Prime Video (premiere date TBA).
