From John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton, Tinseltown is filled with couples who take our expectations to a whole new level, making us pine for true love. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz are also on this list. A love story that is the epitome of getting the timing right, the two love birds sure know how to make us all swoon over them.
Having met 16 years before officially dating, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz probably did not know that they would go on to become one of Hollywood’s power couples. While most of their relationship has been private, Rachel Weisz once revealed how they found love in each other, and contrary to the fairy tales, it wasn’t love at first sight.
Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig Grew Fond of Each Other Over Time
Having both been cast in Les Grandes Horizontales playing at London’s National Theatre Studio, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz came face to face for the first time. Back then, he was married to Fiona Loudon and Weisz would go on to get engaged to Darren Aronofsky. Neither of the relationships lasted.
Years and years later, Weisz and Craig reunited in 2010, on the set of Dream House, a horror movie where they played the role of a married couple. Pretending to be together in reel life ended up with them falling for each other in real life.
Just 6 months of dating, they ended up getting married in a super-secret wedding; as stealthy as James Bond, huh? A year after their wedding, Weisz was asked by Marie Claire whether their relationship started off with love at first sight.
To this, Weisz replied.
Keeping things under wraps, moving in silence, and getting the girl while being sneaky with it all really seems like a James Bond thing to do. It looks like Craig is Bond through and through.
An Intimate Wedding for an Intimate Couple
Weisz and Craig have never been one of those couples who shine the spotlight on their personal affairs. They have always preferred keeping things to themselves and protecting their relationship from the scrutiny of the public eye.
Which is probably why they didn’t find any need to flaunt their wedding to the world. They knew they were soulmates and decided to tie the knot in a very secretive and intimate wedding.
Just 6 months after dating, Weisz and Craig had a beautiful wedding in New York with a total of 4 guests. The guests were – Craig’s daughter Ella, Weisz’s son Henry, and their two close friends.
Talking to British GQ about pulling it off, Craig stated, “We got away with it. We did it privately. And I’ve got a lot of people to thank for that.”
Marrying Craig was something Weisz would have never expected. She once told Harper’s Bazaar,
Guess it was just meant to be in the end, wasn’t it?
