“I would say that’s first and foremost”: Jessica Alba Has One Advice for Vanessa Kirby Playing Sue Storm After Fantastic Four Role Left the Former Questioning Her Career

Jessica Alba may have moved on from playing the Fantastic Four character Sue Storm. However, it looks like it still holds an extremely special place in her heart. After all, she had played the part perfectly in both the 2005 and 2007 films, Fantastic Four and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer. Although it has been years since the actress put on her stunning blue suit, the 43-year-old shone some light on her time with the MCU.

It was probably one of the best times of my life, going around the world and meeting all of the people that just love the Fantastic Four and love these comic books and can relate to these stories.

Although Alba had not returned for another superhero film in years, her advice to Kirby was,

I think just have fun. The fans are so amazing. To be able to meet so many different people that you can touch and bring joy to them, I would say that’s first and foremost for anyone who gets the honor of playing one of these awesome characters.

Alba might be looking at the positives of playing Sue Storm in the MCU. However, back in 2007, the actress had once admitted that she had ended up doubting her career choices after some questionable direction during the filming of Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Why Jessica Alba once questioned her decision to pursue an acting career

By 2010, Jessica Alba’s portrayal of Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four films had catapulted her into global stardom. However, it was not always smooth sailing for the actress. In fact, in a 2010 interview with Elle, quoted by Today, she revealed that she had questioned her career choices on the set of Rise of the Silver Surfer. The 43-year-old had felt as though her acting skills were not good enough after one interaction with director, Tim Story.

I remember when I was dying in ‘Silver Surfer.’ The director was like, ‘It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? … Don’t do that thing with your face. Just make it flat. We can CGI the tears in.

Although Alba had been in various films like Never Been Kissed, and James Cameron’s tv series, Dark Angel, it was not until 2006 that doubt crept into her mind. She added that the interaction made her wonder, “Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough? Do people hate them so much that they don’t want me to be a real person? … And so I just said, ‘f*** it. I don’t care about this business anymore.”

The experience on set ended up being a real eye-opening moment for Alba. After all, she had faced a sentiment that many actresses have echoed throughout Hollywood’s history. Luckily, she created a space for herself that let her enjoy the best of both worlds after she started The Honest Company. However, she also recently revealed in an interview that she would love to make a comeback to the MCU after her Deadpool & Wolverine miss.
