I canceled my Walmart+ membership after chain automatically signed me up – and it was all because I used self-checkout

A WALMART shopper claims that she was “automatically” signed up for a Plus membership.

She added that she will be canceling the Walmart+ membership as she was only reportedly signed up because she used self-checkout.

In a recent Facebook post, Jenny Johnson shared a concerning experience with Walmart’s self-checkout system.

Johnson discovered that she was automatically signed up for a Walmart+ membership after using the self-checkout, a service she did not intentionally enroll in.

Upon noticing an unexpected $12.95 charge on her account, she investigated and found it was for a Walmart+ subscription.

Johnson contacted Walmart’s customer service and was informed that using the self-checkout could result in automatic enrollment in Walmart+.

This information was confirmed by a representative, who also processed a refund and canceled the unwanted subscription, Johnson said.

The US Sun has reached out to Walmart for confirmation on Johnson’s claim but has yet to hear back.

There have also been claims from shoppers in the past that Walmart and other retailers like Target that customers were going to have to pay to use self-checkout as part of a subscription model as members of both of the chains’ programs.

The aforementioned claims, however, have been proven false, per Verify This.

Nowhere on Walmart’s website does it say that users are automatically enrolled into Walmart+ by using self-checkout or any other store service.

Upon investigation, the only way you can get a Walmart+ membership is by signing up for one yourself.

Walmart+ is a membership program designed to help customers save both time and money.

To access the benefits, you’ll need a Walmart.com account and the Walmart app.

As a Walmart+ member, you will be able to enjoy free shipping with no order minimum.

You will also be able to get items delivered from your local store and save on fuel at participating stations, such as Exxon, Mobil, Walmart, and Murphy.

Members will have access to the Mobile Scan & Go feature, which can be found on the app, to scan items and check out in-store.

Meanwhile, another Walmart shopper has pointed out a change with the shopping carts – and she has picture proof.

And a customer at both Costco and Walmart is frustrated with the retailers for discontinuing a favorite item of theirs.
