Even Muzan and Zenitsu Don’t Compare to the Biggest Weakling of Demon Slayer Who Started a Chain Reaction of the Worst Events in Order to Save Himself

Demon Slayer is undoubtedly one of the most popular new-gen anime, captivating the attention of many Western fans towards the Shonen anime genre. With the DS Season 4, Ufotable delivered the most cinematic experience the fandom could have asked for, ending with the Hashiras and Tanjiro’s group entering the Infinity Castle.

While every character’s entry to the Infinity Castle was impressive, Zenitsu arguably stole the spotlight with his look of pure determination and vengeance. Since the start of the series, Zenitsu excelled in combat but struggled with cowardice and low self-esteem, hindering his potential as a demon slayer.

However, after learning about his master’s tragic demise, Zenitsu’s personality has completely shifted, making fans eager to witness his revenge on the big screen. Despite being famous for his cowardice, Zenitsu’s rival proved to be the most spineless of all, with actions that led to the tragic deaths of many.

The Most Cowardly Character in Demon Slayer

Besides Zenitsu, Muzan Kibutsuji is also famous for his one cowardly action that significantly affected his reputation among the fans. In the DS universe, there is only one who stands higher than all the other demons, and it’s Muzan. Interestingly, there was one Demon Slayer who made Muzan Kibutsuji shiver in fear with his mere presence, and it was none other than Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

Muzan encountered Yoriichi during one of his ventures, which resulted in the Demon King’s initial experience with fear and fleeing the battlefield, 500 years ago. The Demon King was left so shaken by Yoriichi’s immense strength that he remained hidden for years to avoid ever encountering him again. Indeed, Muzan’s cowardly actions altered fans’ initial impression, showing him as a timid figure.

Despite the addition of characters like Zenitsu and Muzan, there’s one Demon Slayer character whose weakness led to the deaths of many beloved characters. Kaigaku was a former Demon Slayer and Zenitsu’s senior disciple under the former Thunder Hashira.

After losing his master’s favor, Kaigaku started to despise Zenitsu for embedding the traits of a weak and timid man. However, Kaigaku was the weakest disciple under the Thunder Hashira’s care who easily quit his humanity in exchange for immortality and became a demon.

Unlike Rengoku, who preferred dying on the battlefield over sacrificing his humanity, Kaigaku’s selfish desires made him the weakest and most hated character in the eyes of many. Not to forget, he also played a huge role in Gyomei Himejima’s family massacre.

Kaigaku was one of the orphans Gyomei Himejima cared for; however, after getting caught for stealing money, he was banished from the temple. Later, Kaigaku encountered a demon and allowed it into the temple in exchange for sparing his life, showing how willing he was to even grovel and plead for survival.

Moreover, Zenitsu’s sensei committed Seppuku, a ritualistic suicide in Japan, to atone for Kaigaku’s turning into a demon. Kaigaku’s cowardly actions led to a chain of traumatic events, establishing him as one of the most hated characters in the series.

Yoriichi Tsugikuni: The Strongest Demon Slayer Hashira

Yoriichi Tsugikuni is the creator of the Sun Breathing Style and the legendary Demon Slayer, who lived over 500 years ago. Yoriichi was the only individual who solely made the Demon King bend a knee and nearly beheaded him, if not for Muzan’s cheap tricks.

Koyoharu Gotouge portrayed Yoriichi Tsugikuni as someone so powerful that he never doomed the Sun Breathing creator with the tragic fate of every Demon Slayer mark’s user. Sadly, every Demon Slayer who unlocks their mark is destined to die at the young age of 25.

However, Yoriichi Tsugikuni wasn’t affected by this curse. Since Yoriichi was born with a mark, it’s likely his body adapted to the mark’s immense power at birth. This led the strongest Demon Slayer to live till his mid-80s and reminisce about his failed duty to kill Muzan.

Demon Slayer is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
