Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) gets one step closer to justice in EastEnders next week, as there’s a huge development in her sexual assault case.

After reporting Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) to the police last month, Yolande was devastated when they later claimed they did not have enough evidence to charge him.

However, last week saw a second woman called Delia come forward and meet with Yolande, revealing that Clayton had attacked her during his time at a previous parish.

After some encouraging and emotional words from Yolande, Delia found the courage to accompany her to the station to give a new statement.

In scenes to air next Tuesday (9 July), news reaches Albert Square that the CPS have charged Pastor Clayton with two counts of sexual assault.

Yolande receives the update from fellow church-goer Levi, who vowed to help her bring the Pastor to justice after she reported her ordeal to him earlier this year.

However, he arrives at the Truemans as the family are still dealing with the fallout from Denzel Danes’ (Jaden Ladega) steroid use coming to light, following Nugget Gulati’s (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) recent hospitalisation

As Denzel’s father Howie (Delroy Atkinson) continues to struggle with his son, Yolande steps in to support him, and decides to open up to the teenager about her ordeal when he walks in on her conversation with Levi.

She urges Denzel to accept help, but will he heed Yolande’s wise words?

EastEnders fans have been ‘blown away’ by actress Angela Wynter’s performance as Yolande over the course of her sexual assault storyline, with viewers on social media calling for her to win an award.

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday (9 July) at 7.30pm on BBC Two, and from 6am on iPlayer.
