Who is Anamaria Baralt and what does Erik and Lyle Menendez’s cousin say about the Monsters series on the brothers

ANAMARIA Baralt is the daughter of Carlos Baralt, a lifelong friend of José Menendez and the executor of his estate.

She is a fierce campaigner for Erik and Lyle Menendez’s release and has joined in on the fresh calls for their freedom inspired by the discovery of an old letter from Erik. Here’s everything you need to know about Anamaria.

Campaigning for the Menendez brothers

Not much is known about Anamaria’s early life, but her father met José while they were children in Cuba.

Carlos remained close friends with José, after marrying his older sister Teresita.

When José was murdered by Erik and Lyle, Carlos became the executor of his estate and claimed that the brothers’ father was planning to remove them from the will.

Since Erik and Lyle’s incarceration, Anamaria has campaigned for their release.

She told the US Sun: “My father loved José, but even when he was alive, he didn’t fight to keep them in jail.”

She added that she had signatures from “pretty much every” relative of Kitty and José Menendez, in support of their release.

The Menendez brothers’ crime

On August 20, 1989, the Menendez brothers murdered their parents Kitty and José in their family home.

While it was initially thought that their parents were murdered by the mob, Erik confessed to his therapist, Dr Jerome Oziel, that the brothers were behind the killing.

Dr Oziel’s mistress, Judalon Smyth, informed the police of the shocking revelation and the brothers were arrested.

The brothers alleged in court that they had been victims of sexual abuse at the hands of their father and said that they feared what their father might do if they spoke out against him.

Eventually, they were handed life sentences without the possibility of parole and have spent their lives in prison since.

Netflix and the Menendez brothers

Interest in the Menendez brothers surged after Ryan Murphy’s Netflix drama Monsters landed on the streaming platform.

The series dramatized the events of the two brothers’ lives, but Anamaria felt that the show didn’t properly depict Lyle.

She said: “The portrayal of Lyle as this rage-fueled, fly-off-the-handle, aggressive personality is so far off the mark of his personality.

“When I spoke to Lyle the other night, I said, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard you raise your voice.’ And he agreed.”

The brothers are hoping for another chance at freedom, after the recovery of a letter that details Erik’s alleged abuse by José.

The letter was found by Erik’s aunt, Marta Cano, and was addressed to her son, Andy.

Kylie Jenner shows figure in bra and thong as star reveals ‘shock’ of ‘stretch marks’ & 60-lb weight gain while pregnant

KYLIE Jenner has stripped down to her bra for a glamorous new photoshoot and lifted the lid on her post-baby body.

The 27-year-old star was snapped in the pink lace lingerie while casually kneeling on the floor in a pair of undone jeans.

Kylie’s high-waisted matching panties can be seen underneath and she is gazing off into the distance in the picture.

The photo of Kylie is part of a new shoot she has done with ELLE magazine.

Other photos see her posing in number of different cropped T-shirts and skimpy underwear, while she appears to be totally nude in bed in another shot – apart from hot pink heels.

But although she is clearly body-confident, there was a spell when Kylie didn’t always feel this way.

Speaking to the publication, Kylie has opened up about becoming a mom and the affect it had on her figure.

The star revealed she put on 60-lb while expecting and found herself with stretch marks.

Kylie said: “The first part of my twenties was having children, learning what my personal style was and then losing it – not knowing how to dress, gaining 60 pounds for both pregnancies.

“It took me a year to feel like myself again.”

She added: “Having a baby really young was more shocking, maybe, because I saw these changes happening to my body—all these new stretch marks and things that I didn’t have before.”

Kylie shares six-year-old Stormi and two-year-old Aire with her ex partner Travis Scott.

In the interview with ELLE, she also admits to suffering with postpartum depression after the arrival of daughter and son.

Explaining that her mom Kris and sisters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe – who all have their own children – helped her through it, she admitted: “I felt like I was on autopilot.”

Earlier this month, Kylie appeared on TikTok with her children.

Taking part in a viral trend, the mom-of-two flipped Aire upside with Jack Johnson’s hit song Upside Down playing in the background.

Posting a laughing emoji, Kylie captioned the post: “Dont think we did that right!”

Kylie looked gorgeous in the footage, with fans noticing a more dressed down and natural appearance.

One fan asked on the discussion website Reddit: “Did she get her filler reduced/dissolved?”

They added: “She looks different here to me what do you all think?”

Another wrote: “It makes me happy to see her embracing herself for once. I do feel like she’s slowly begun to realize that less IS more when it comes to the face. She looks so much like herself (pre-surgeries) in this pic.”

Kylie Jenner is the youngest of Kris Jenner‘s children. She is best known for starring alongside her sisters on the Kardashians reality shows, while also being a model, socialite and the founder of multiple businesses: Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Skin, Kylie Baby, and Kylie Swim.

A second said: “I can see her teenage features a little in this photo.”

“This looks a little bit like the old Kylie. Did she dissolve filler or get a new filter? We’ll never truly know,” a third chimed in.

In 2019, Kylie confirmed to fans that she’s never had surgery to alter her face.

She told Paper: “It’s fillers. I’m not denying that.”

However, in the last year, Kylie has been embracing her natural beauty.

In 2023, Kylie told her sisters Kourtney and Khloe: “I just feel like we have a huge influence.

“What are we doing with our power?

“I just see so many young girls on the internet now fully editing (photos of themselves).

“I went through that stage too, and I feel like I’m in a better place, but other people can in still insecurities in you.”

MR BUFFALO: When did Lyle Menendez buy the Chuck’s Spring Street Cafe chicken wing shop and can I visit it today?

LYLE and Erik Menendez inherited their parents’ multi-million dollar fortune after killing them on August 20, 1989.

Erik spent his share of the money on a private tennis instructor, but Lyle made the decision to buy a chicken wing spot named Chuck’s Spring Street Cafe.

Lyle’s buffalo wing dream

Lyle attended Princeton University in New Jersey and developed a fondness for Chuck’s Spring Street Cafe.

He was thrown out of the university after a plagiarism row, but later returned to New Jersey with the money he had inherited from his parents.

He bought the chicken shop and renamed it Mr Buffalo, before phoning up his Princeton suitmate Hayden Rogers.

Lyle asked Hayden to be the brand’s CFO and had big dreams for the company.

Hayden told Roll Call in 2012: “He called me up and — I was working in construction—and he called me up and asked me if I would be interested in managing a restaurant he was looking at buying.

“I went up, talked about it, decided it was a good opportunity, so I went to work for him.”

However, Lyle’s plans to expand the chain were thwarted when he was arrested for the murder of his parents.

Hayden was with him in Los Angeles when he was arrested, as the pair were looking to open a branch of Mr Buffalo near UCLA.

They were about to get lunch when the police took Lyle into custody.

The shop remained open after Lyle’s arrest but eventually renamed itself  Chuck’s Spring Street Cafe.

Lyle and Erik’s crime

Lyle was arrested for the murder of his parents, which he committed alongside his brother Erik in August 1989.

They later claimed in court that this was motivated by sexual abuse perpetrated by their father José.

After their arrest, they received a lifetime prison sentence with no possibility of parole, despite their lawyer Leslie Abramson’s fierce attempt to spare them such a harsh verdict.

Death penalty litigation specialist Charles Gessler was able to save them from execution however, which was hailed as a victory for the brothers’ legal battle.

The Mega Agency

Life after the trial

Calls for the brothers’ release have increased after a Netflix series named Monsters dramatized their crimes and the subsequent trial.

The show brought a lot of attention to the brothers’ case and put a magnifying glass on a shocking new piece of evidence.

A letter, written from Erik to his cousin Andy, was uncovered which suggested that the brothers might have been telling the truth about the abuse they had suffered.

Also, Menudo member Roy Rossello claimed that he had also been abused by José and this has raised hopes that the brothers’ may have a stronger case to put to the court than they did in the 1990s.

Erik’s daughter, Talia, even has an Instagram account dedicated to freeing the brothers named @seterikmenendezfree.

Pete Alonso drops major hint over next team decision with Yankees and Red Sox interested in $180m Mets star

NEW York Mets star Pete Alonso broke his silence on his future following his team’s elimination from the MLB playoffs.

The 29-year-old MLB slugger will be a free agent this offseason as two big market teams in the crosstown rival New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox could sign the four-time All-Star first baseman.

Alonso’s Mets lost in six games in the NLCS to the NL champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

He has spent all six of his seasons with the Mets, hitting an impressive 226 home runs during that span.

Alonso is projected to get a six-year, $175 million deal, per Spotrac, and he was asked about his thoughts on being a free agent.

“Honestly, I haven’t really thought of anything,” Alonso said in an interview with MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.

“I love this team. I love this organization. This fan base has treated not just myself, but my family so, so well. Right now, I’m just thinking of the group.

“We’ll see what happens. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. But I love New York. I love this team. I love playing in Queens.

“This group is really special, and the memories that we’ve created together are just — wow. This is why we play baseball.”

While Alonso seems to be want to back in a Mets uniform, the decision will ultimately come down to the MLB franchise owned by $21 billion owner Steve Cohen which will also have more than $150 million coming off the books this offseason.

The Mets are expected to pursue Yankees superstar Juan Soto, who will also be a free agent and could be in line for a contract north of $600 million.

However, the Yankees are likely to re-sign Soto, who had a career season, has familiarity with the club, and hit the series-clinching home run that sent New York to its first World Series since 2009.

Still, if the Yankees whiff on Soto, they can attempt to sign Alonso.

The Bronx Bombers will likely not exercise Anthony Rizzo’s $17 million 2025 club option after his disappointing season.

The Yankees have an uncertain future at the first base position.

The Red Sox could also be among the teams to bid for Alonso’s services.

AP

While Boston has high hopes for Triston Casas, the team could trade him for starting pitching according to Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller.

Alonso is coming off a down year for his standards, hitting 34 home runs and garnering a 2.0 fWAR (Fangraphs Wins Above Replacement) in a full season – both career lows.

Still, he continued to show his reliability, playing a full 162 games in the 2024 regular season.

He has only missed 24 games in his six seasons.

Alonso also hit four home runs in 13 postseason games.

One of them was a go-ahead game-winning three-run home run over the Milwaukee Brewers in a win-or-go-home Game 3 of the NL Wild Card round.

Citizens Bank closing 15 branches across 6 states – forcing thousands of customers to move their money

CITIZENS Bank has confirmed the closures of at least 15 branches this month.

Some customers will have no choice but to move their money elsewhere before the locations shutter for good.

The closures will take place across six states — Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, per a recent filing Citizens Bank submitted with the U.S. Office of Comptroller of the Currency.

While the exact dates for many of the branches are unclear, Rhode Island customers can expect the Citizens Bank in East Providence to be eliminated after Christmas.

An official closure date is set for January 22, 2025, according to what a spokesperson for the bank told Providence Business News (PBN).

Six branches in Pennsylvania, four in Massachusetts, two in Michigan, one in New Hampshire, and one in Ohio will shut down sometime soon after.

The impact of the Citizens Bank shutdown in East Providence marks a trend of the financial institution’s downsizing in the state over the past 10 years.

There were 82 branches in Rhode Island in 2014, and only 53 will be left after the closure in January, per the outlet.

That means at least 29 locations have been axed in a decade.

A majority of them took place in 2020 when Citizens Bank closed 40 branches across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

RETAIL REMOVAL

Each was located within Stop & Shop stores, a prominent northeastern supermarket chain.

Most of Citizens Bank’s recent closures took place at locations that resided within Stop & Shop.

Still, the institution held a 36% share of deposits in Rhode Island since 2014, even with all the closures, according to PBN.

That could be attributed to its move to improve its digital banking services.

CUSTOMERS REASSURED

“We’ve been on a journey at Citizens to evolve how our customers bank with us, and we continually review customer patterns to evolve and adjust strategy across our network,” the bank told the publication in a statement.

“We look forward to continuing to serve customers through our neighboring branches on Newport Avenue and East Avenue in Pawtucket, both about two miles away, as well as through our online and mobile banking platforms.”

Citizens Bank Closures

Citizens Bank has confirmed the closure of 15 branches across six states. Each will take place over the coming months. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of the affected states below:

  • Pennsylvania (6)
  • Massachusetts (4)
  • Michigan (2)
  • Ohio (1)
  • New Hampshire (1)
  • Rhode Island (1)

Citizens Bank also reassured customers that “branches remain a key part of our overall strategy” and that it was “committed to supporting and engaging within the communities we serve.”

Employees at the closing branches across the six states were also notified and were given options moving forward for other open positions.

BANK BLOODBATH

Several banks have closed branches this summer, including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and JPMorgan Chase.

JPMorgan Chase closed 18 branches, Wells Fargo followed with 17, and Bank of America shuttered at least 16.

In total 79 branches closed in the span of a single month.

Brick-and-mortar banking, in general, has taken hits over the years, with at least 20,000 disappearing since 2009, per data from the FDIC.

Born on September 17, 1942 in Florida, Robert Graysmith is an American true crime author and former cartoonist.

He is known for his work on the Zodiac Killer case.

Killer books

Robert’s investigation into the case led him to write two books on the unknown murderer.

His first book, which was simply titled Zodiac, was released in 1982.

Robert’s second book, Zodiac Unmasked: The Identity of America’s Most Elusive Serial Killer, was published in 2002.

Following the success of these publications, Robert eventually gave up his career as a cartoonist to write five more books on high-profile crimes.
