Driver ditches new $75k Rivian at ‘significant loss’ months after buying it – SUV needed major repair at just 578 miles

A DRIVER is out thousands after he was forced to sell his brand new EV with just 800 miles on the odometer.

Just months after dropping $75,000 on the stylish Rivian with tons of add-ons, the driver had to head to the mechanic for a serious repair.

The driver had to get steering systems replaced after putting just 500 miles on the car[/caption]

On the outside, the silver Rivian R1S looks like a dream car.

It’s fashioned with enviable features like a jet black interior, large monitor, and off-road capabilities unique to the outdoor-friendly brand, according to the listing on Cars & Bids.

Passengers can enjoy three full rows pf seats in the R1S, which is one of the few EVs to rival gas powered trucks with its expansive size.

Plus, the driver opted for extra modifications like a window tint, vinyl wrap to emphasize the chrome trim, and glossifier to make the emblems shine.

They even shelled out an extra $900 to fit the cars with running boards underneath the doors, making the massive SUV easier to enter and exit.

However, once the driver hit 578 miles in his fresh new ride, he had to take it to the shop.

According to the CarFax, the accident history is spotless, but the service history shows the Rivian got a steering column and steering column control module replaced.

Replacing parts just months after buying a new car can’t feel good, but the driver actually said it wasn’t the reason he sold.

On the listing, he wrote that the car wasn’t “suited for out family at this time.”

The issue was “mainly a usability and ergonomics thing for my wife who also isn’t comfortable driving it around due to sheer size and truck-like attributes,” he said.

“I love driving it, but alas it isn’t as great a fit for everyone as I had hoped.”

Even though the gorgeous ride was just lightly used, the driver still faced a serious value decrease.

Drivers should be warned that the second a brand new car is driven off a dealership’s lot, it drops anywhere from 5% to 15% in price.

After one year, drivers can expect their new car to be worth about 80% the original price.

This Rivian owner took a pretty significant hit, and sold the car for just $67,313 after an auction where is scored eight bids.

Why aren't people buying EVs?

In January, many EV makers reported slow demand. Reuters said there are a few valid reasons for a slow in demand:

  1. High initial costs. Many automakers, like Tesla, Hyundai, and Ford have conducted “price slashes” on their flagship EVs to attract new buyers, though demand remains slow.
  2. Higher insurance costs. Some insurance companies cite fire risks, high costs of battery replacement, and higher vehicle weight as reasons for higher premiums.
  3. Charging anxiety. A large percentage of people remain fearful of being in a situation where they won’t be able to charge if they run out of battery due to a lack of infrastructure.
  4. Range anxiety. In many instances, EVs still don’t have the range and infrastructure of gas-powered vehicles.
  5. Poor performance in extreme temperatures. Reduced range in extremely hot or cold weather makes potential buyers wary.

OTHER RIVIAN NEWS

Rivian is continue to expand its presence in the US market with its latest design – the R2.

The R2’s initial prototype launch featured a trove of new specs for the upcoming EV.

Rivian expects the car to hit the US market in 2026 with a $45,000 starting price tag.

The initial prototype has a shorter wheelbase than the production R1S.

Inside, the SUV has two rows of seating for five passengers.

The R2 carries over some standard Rivian specs – extra storage in the front row, a hand-carved wooden dashboard, and the company’s famous flashlight in the door.

But the car also points the company in a slightly new direction with some distinct details.

The rear window can roll down, and the charging port can be used to plug into Tesla’s charging stations.

Jeopardy! fans fume at ‘questionable’ category name as they spot not one but two errors that host Ken Jennings missed

JEOPARDY! fans have blasted the show after one “questionable” category left them baffled.

Viewers found themselves scratching their heads when host Ken Jennings failed to spot the bizarre errors.

ABC/Jeopardy
Fans were baffled by two of the answers – with country singer Blake Shelton being one[/caption]

Contestants Stephanie Cooper, Tristan Brown and Will Wallace all picked questions from the Pop Stars category – yet fans have complained the questions weren’t actually about pop stars.

Ken asked for $400, “This singer has said ‘nobody but yours’ to wives Miranda Lambert and Gwen Stefani.”

Stephanie correctly gave the answer of country music singer Blake Shelton.

For $16,0000, Ken also asked, “Leroi Moore, Boyd Tinsley, Carter Beauford and Stefan Lessard, his ‘band’ are 2024 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees.”

Will answered correctly with rock jam group Dave Matthews Band.

Fans shared their frustrations online, venting that Blake Shelton and Dave Matthews Band are not pop stars.

One angry viewer complained, “Some questionable inclusions in the Pop Stars category. I wouldn’t consider either Blake Shelton or Dave Matthews to be pop stars.”

Another added, “In the broadest sense they do perform popular music, although I agree that as typically used today, ‘pop star’ usually means American Idol-type performers.”

Someone else wrote on Instagram, “Not sure I agree with Dave Matthews being a ‘pop’ star, but I didn’t get that answer anyway! lol”

And one Jeopardy! fan fumed: “Real loose interpretation of pop star.”

Despite the confusion over the true definition of a pop star, the installment of the ABC gameshow – which aired on Tuesday night – was a nail-biting one.

Newly-crowned champion Tristan went head-to-head with Stephanie and Will Wallace in a bid to win the episode.

But Tristan then blew his first place after Will, who had struggled to get out of negative, won the show.

As they answered questions in the Pop Stars category, Will was at one point -$200.

However, he managed to turn it around and went on to steal the show.

By Final Jeopardy!, Ken pointed out that there was just $1,000 between first and third place.

Jeopardy! Contestant Rules

Passing Jeopardy!'s online Anytime Test is hard enough, but there are also many rules players must follow once they make it to the stage:

  • The returning champion is always at the leftmost podium and keeps playing until they lose.
  • Contestants don’t have to say “who is” or “what is” in the first round but must do so in Double Jeopardy! and Final Jeopardy.
  • Contestants can change their responses as long as Ken Jennings or the judges haven’t made a ruling.
  • The minimum wager for a Daily Double is $5. The minimum wager for Final Jeopardy! is $0.
  • Written responses in Final Jeopardy! do not have to be spelled correctly, but they must be phonetically correct (the judges decide this).
  • If there’s a tie after Final Jeopardy, the tied players enter a bonus clue shootout, and whoever buzzes in first correctly wins.
  • If all three contestants wager everything in Final Jeopardy! and are incorrect, leaving them with $0, there will be no returning champion (it’s happened before—six times).

Giving them their final clue, Ken then said, “For much of the 1920s, he lived on Eddy Street in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District.”

Will shared his answer of Hammett [Dashiell], and won an extra $9,399. This saw his total creep up to $18,799.

Tristan, however, plummeted to $0 and Stephanie also went down to $5,400 with wrong answers.

Falling Tristan and Stephanie’s falls, Will was declared the winner.

“Congrats Will, very tightly contested game,” said one fan on Reddit, as viewers rushed online to discuss the game.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time fans have raised questions about Jeopardy! this week.

The show rules were also contested after it was revealed an actor from a famous Christmas film had been cast.

North Korean troops INSIDE Russia as US confirms 3,000 men serving as ‘cannon fodder for desperate Vlad in Ukraine war’

AT LEAST 3,000 North Korean troops are now inside Russia with US officials fearing they have been shipped in to help Putin fight his bloody war against Ukraine.

Many more are yet to come as North Korea aims to deploy a total of 10,000 soldiers by the end of the year, reports claim.

The US revealed on Wednesday that at least 3,000 soldiers have put their boots on Putin’s land after Ukraine’s military intelligence claimed North Korean troops were to help push back its forces.

And the US now appear to back this claim, with US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby confirming it’s a “high concerning probability” the North Korean soldiers are there to fight.

He warned: “After completing training, these soldiers could travel to western Russia and then engage in combat against the Ukrainian military.”

Earlier on Wednesday Defense Secretary Austin warned that if this were the case, it would be a “very, very serious issue”.

He believes the then-alleged North Korean deployment could be due to an embarrassing shortage of Russian recruits.

Austin said: “This is an indication that he [Putin] may be even in more trouble than most people realize.

“He went tin cupping early on to get additional weapons and materials from DPRK and then from Iran.

“And now he’s making a move to get more people — if that is the case, if these troops are designed to be a part of the fight in Ukraine.”

The US determined the North Korean soldiers were transported via ship in October from the Wonsan region to the eastern Russian city of Vladivostok.

Tyrant Putin and ruthless dictator Kim Jong-un have been forging a close relationship to form what has been dubbed an “Axis of evil” against the West.

And Pyongyang is now committed to helping out the desperate Russian leader to win his meatgrinder war against Ukraine.

Dramatic videos from the Far East of Russia allegedly shows Kim’s soldiers being given battlefield equipment and taking part in strict military training.

One video being shared online is said to feature a voice saying: “The handsome allied soldiers from North Korea have arrived.

“I hope the war will now end.”

Russia and North Korea have so far denied the troop movements.

Pyongyang said reports of them sending troops abroad are simply “groundless rumours”.

Despite Kim’s cronies brushing off the claims, South Korean intelligence reports that troops are being issued fake military IDs before being shipped off to Siberian regions like Yakutia and Buryatia.

‘DON’T DIE ON FOREIGN SOIL’

Ukraine has asked North Korean troops to surrender rather than die for their dictator.

A message written in both Korean and Russian says: “We appeal to the fighters of the Korean People’s Army not to die senselessly on foreign soil.

“You should not repeat the fate of hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers who will never return home.

“Surrender now and Ukraine will shelter you, feed you and warm you.”

A video shared by Kyiv’s forces shows a PoW camp built to accommodate North Korean troops who choose to surrender.

It says: “The prisoners of war in the camp will be kept in large, warm and bright rooms with separate sleeping quarters.

“They will receive three meals a day, including meat, fresh vegetables and bread.”

DESPERATE VLAD

Officials have also detected signs that North Korea is relocating family members of soldiers chosen to be sent to Russia to special sites to isolate them.

World leaders say if North Korean troops are seen in Ukraine then it would be a clear sign of desperation from a paranoid Vlad.

Finland’s President Alexander Stubb told Reuters: “We’re just seeing how desperate Russia is.

“Its allies are not too many around this world.

“It relies on Iranian weapons, it relies on North Korean soldiers. How much worse can it get?”

It comes as the North Korean despot has also been supplying tens of thousands of containers of weapons to Russia for its illegal invasion.

Kim has sent 13,000 shipping containers carrying arms to Russia for the war over a two-year period, one South Korean minister said.

Ammunition supplies are critical for Russia to continue prosecuting its war and killing innocent Ukrainians.

In January, Russia used North Korean missiles to blitz Ukraine for the first time killing at least 50 people.

At the end of last month, small North Korean tanks, named Bulsae-4, were even spotted fighting in Ukraine.

North Korea has denied supplying the Kremlin with ballistic missiles and artillery shells.

But reports say Kim has even pledged to send 15,000 tunnellers to Ukraine to dig a Hamas-style underground front.

Russia is using “dark” ships with their GPS turned off so they can’t be tracked to ship some of the containers.

In return, Putin is said to be protecting his pal at the UN by vetoing bodies supposed to enforce the sanctions against North Korea.

Quinn Ewers skips scheduled press conference as Texas Longhorns make major Arch Manning decision

TEXAS Longhorns star Quinn Ewers has skipped his regular press conference – following a decision over the quarterback position.

The 21-year-old is the first choice at the college, with Arch Manning, nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli, his backup.

There have been rumors Ewers could be benched and replaced as the starter, following a mixed season.

It comes after a 30-15 home loss against bitter rivals the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 8.

He also missed a large part of the campaign with an abdominal strain, picked up in college football Week 3.

During the Longhorns defeat to the Bulldogs last Saturday, Manning briefly came in for Ewers.

That happened in the second quarter, with Texas trailing their rivals 20-0.

He eventually returned and started the entire second half, but couldn’t stop his team losing.

Ewers completed 25 of his 43 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

There have been rumors of plans to switch out the quarterbacks.

Ewers didn’t attent his regular scheduled press conference with the media this week.

And it added fuel to claims he is not happy in Texas, two days after his benching.

There have even been wild claims he might sit out the rest of the year to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Longhorns face No25 seed Vanderbilt in Week 9, and head coach Steve Sarkisian opened up on his QB situation.

“Quinn’s our starting quarterback,” he said.

“I appreciate the fact we’re fortunate enough to have a backup like Arch that could come into the game and provide a spark in some sense.

“At the end of the day, Quinn’s our starter.

“I think, like I said, we’ve got to do a better job around him.

“I think he would tell you he can play better, but we’ve got to coach better.

“Everybody’s got to be better for our offense to perform better.”

Sarkisian claimed he temporarily benched Ewers for Manning against the Bulldogs to help his starting quarterback regroup.

“My feeling in the game was I felt Quinn was a little uneasy,” he said.

“I felt like giving him a chance to kind of step back and regroup.

“I didn’t know if we’d get a series or two with Arch depending on how much time was remaining in the half on the clock.

“So we told Quinn we’re going to go with Arch here and give you a chance to get into the locker room.

“Let’s regroup and then come back out in the second half, and so that’s what we did.

“I felt like it was effective. Quinn came out and played a much better second half and played well in the third quarter.”

Big Ten announces college kick-off times for Week 9 including major broadcasting changes for Georgia-Florida

THE Big Ten has announced a major change to college kick-off times for the rest of the season.

While many fans expected to see Penn State in a prime-time matchup, the Week 9 schedule has revealed a shock twist.

Reuters

Multiple other teams are having games moved around their schedules[/caption]

Penn State is hosting Ohio State on November, a game that they slotted for their annual whiteout game.

The school typically does their traditional whiteout against their biggest opponent of the year.

Ohio State is their biggest opponent this year, but TV viewers won’t see the late-night, white out crowd this year.

Instead, Fox called in an audible to have Penn State versus Ohio State as their featured matchup for Big Noon Kickoff.

It makes sense why Fox would want to feature the two schools on their flagship college football program.

Penn State is currently ranked as the No. 3 school in the country while Ohio State is the No. 4 ranked school in the country.

The loser of this game will have a much harder time making it into the Big Ten Championship game.

While Fox is licking their chops at having the matchup on their network, Penn State fans are furious about having to move their whiteout and shared that fury on social media.

“Does anyone know when the deal with @CFBONFOX ends? I want to mark the days off on my calendar,” one fan said.

“Bizarre to play this game at noon,” another fan said.

Other fans recognized that Fox may have scheduled the game that way to ensure it doesn’t clash with a potential Game 7 in the World Series.

“Game 7 of the World Series or PSU-OSU game at night. Which one do you think is going to win out??” one fan said.

“Fox is worried about a possible game seven in the World Series,” another fan said.

Penn State isn’t the only school to have their game times moved around recently.

Georgia‘s schedule is extremely volatile and subject to change thanks to the strength of their matchups.

The Bulldogs just had their November 2 game against Florida moved to 3:30 pm ET on ABC.

They also have two more games that haven’t even been scheduled yet.

November 9 against Ole Miss is subject to flexing either into an afternoon or night game.

The November 16 game against Tennessee is also subject to those same rules.

As the season rolls along and networks continue to get an idea of the top teams, more and more games will be moved around like this.

The retail giant announced the launch of its new nationwide same-day pharmacy delivery service, which integrates prescription medications and general merchandise into a single order.

Shoppers will soon enjoy same-day pharmacy delivery service[/caption]

Set to be available at all Walmart locations with pharmacies by January 2025, this new service is expected to reach millions of customers in 49 states, transforming how Americans manage their healthcare needs.

The program, which is already live in six states — Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina, and Wisconsin — will soon be accessible to 86% of U.S. households.

Customers will be able to have their prescriptions delivered alongside everyday items such as groceries or household essentials, providing a one-stop, streamlined shopping experience.

Walmart’s new Pharmacy Delivery service caters to both new prescriptions and refills.

The company’s extensive infrastructure, with nearly 4,600 stores, enables this service to be delivered efficiently, adding another layer of convenience for families, seniors, and those with chronic conditions who need timely access to medications.

MEETING CUSTOMER DEMAND

According to Walmart, customer demand for prescription delivery has been growing rapidly.

In a recent survey, 55% of respondents expressed interest in receiving their prescriptions delivered with their regular shopping orders.

This was the most-requested service among busy families looking to save time on errands.

“Our extensive footprint across the nation, combined with our deep expertise in pharmacy, uniquely positions us to make a profound impact in the communities we serve,” said Kevin Host, Walmart U.S. senior vice president of Pharmacy.

He added that Walmart’s latest offering not only serves customers better but also gives the company’s pharmacies more capacity to focus on high-touch health services.

SEAMLESS DELIVERY

Customers can access the Pharmacy Delivery service via the Walmart app or website.

Whether they need medications, groceries, or other household items, all can now be ordered in one seamless transaction.

Walmart is offering several delivery options.

These include: Same-Day Scheduled Delivery, allowing customers to choose the time that best fits their schedule; and On-Demand and Express Delivery, expected soon, which will allow customers to receive prescriptions within hours or, in some cases, as quickly as 30 minutes.

The service applies to new and existing prescriptions, with insurance coverage processed just as it would be in-store. For Walmart+ members, the service is free, while non-members will pay a standard delivery fee of $9.95.

SAFETY FIRST

Medications delivered through this service will be securely packaged in tamper-evident materials, with prescriptions verified by licensed pharmacists, according to Walmart.

Customers will also have the ability to track their orders in real-time and will receive photo confirmation upon delivery, ensuring peace of mind with every order.

Tom Ward, executive vice president and chief eCommerce officer for Walmart U.S., said: “If you’re sick, we can deliver the necessary medicine along with everything else you need to feel better: cough drops, a heating pad, blanket, and orange juice.”

Walmart's prescription and medication services

WALMART’S prescription and medication services include a wide range of offerings designed to make healthcare more accessible and convenient for customers.

These services are available through the nearly 4,600 Walmart pharmacies across the U.S. and include:

Prescription Filling and Refills: Walmart provides both new prescription filling and medication refills, making it easy for customers to manage their ongoing healthcare needs.

Prescriptions can be ordered in-store, online, or through the Walmart app.

Pharmacy Delivery: Walmart offers delivery of prescriptions directly to customers’ homes.

By January 2025, this service will be integrated with Walmart’s general merchandise delivery, allowing customers to receive prescriptions alongside groceries and household items.

Same-day delivery, on-demand delivery, and express delivery options will be available, offering maximum flexibility.

Affordable Prescription Programs: Walmart offers a $4 generic drug program, providing customers with low-cost access to hundreds of common medications.

This service helps ensure that even those without insurance can afford necessary treatments.

Immunizations and Vaccines: Walmart pharmacies administer a variety of vaccines, including flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines, and others, making it convenient for customers to stay up-to-date on their immunizations.

Health Screenings and Wellness Services: In addition to filling prescriptions, Walmart pharmacists provide health screenings, wellness advice, and consultations.

They can help manage chronic conditions like diabetes, blood pressure, and more.

Medication Therapy Management: Walmart pharmacists offer consultations to help customers manage their medications, understand potential drug interactions, and ensure they are taking medications safely and effectively.

Pet Medications: Walmart also offers prescription services for pets, allowing customers to fill veterinary prescriptions at the same time as their own medications.

It comes as Walmart dropped a new return policy and urged shoppers to watch out for an important date.

The new policy, already in action, gives shoppers three months to return their items.

Walmart said: “From October 1 through December 31, 2024, all items purchased in-store or online can be returned until January 31, 2025.”

This generous returns window will be automatically updated on the shopper’s listings, along with some general returns advice.

Amazon offered a similar policy during the pandemic, giving customers a four-month window to return their items.

But this year, Amazon’s window begins on November 1 and finishes on December 31, 2024.

So shoppers have until January 31, 2025, to return their items.

But Apple brand products bought from Amazon must be returned by January 15, 2025.

Usually, sellers aren’t big on wide return windows as it allows someone who bought a Halloween costume to return it after New Year’s.

However, sellers tend to provide them to boost shopper satisfaction.
