Beloved chain closes 20-year location leaving just one in entire state – restaurant left heartbroken note on Facebook

A BELOVED restaurant chain is closing a location after 20 years, leaving only one left in an entire state.

A Hooters restaurant in Manchester, Connecticut – about nine miles east of Hartford – announced on social media that it has closed its doors for good.

It comes as Hooters announced it would close dozens of underperforming locations across the US (file photo)[/caption]

The news comes as the company announced that a “select number” of underperforming restaurants would be shuttered across the country.

At the time of writing, the exact number of locations hasn’t been revealed.

“After nearly two decades of hot wings, cold beer, and great memories Hooters of Manchester has made the difficult decision to close its doors,” read the announcement on Facebook.

“Thank you for the many years of patronage and loyalty.”

The only Hooters location left in the state is now in Wethersfield.

The announcement also suggested that patrons could visit the location in West Springfield, Massachusetts to see their favorite Hooters Girls.

Several former customers shared their reactions to the closure, with many upset to see the restaurant disappear.

“Thank you for all the memories!!” wrote one person.

“Ah, man, I had great memories,” wrote another person.

“Watching WWE pay-per-views, the wings, and of course those beautiful Hooters Girls! Gonna miss it big time!”

A third wrote: “Sooo sad about this! Football Sundays will not be the same!”

The news comes as another Hooters location in Macon, Georgia was abruptly closed.

Employees said they learned of the closure through an internal memo.

“Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores,” read the notice, obtained by CBS affiliate WMAZ.

“We deeply regret that we were not able to give you notice.”

The memo further explained that everything was done to avoid the closure and the decision wasn’t made lightly.

“We appreciate your hard work and dedication and support of the Hooters brand.”

Employees are invited to apply for positions at other Hooters locations and will retain seniority, pay, and benefits if they are hired within 30 days.
