America’s ‘best coastal town’ has huge sandy beach and waterpark with 1,000-foot lazy river

PLAN your next beach getaway to a quaint Florida town, but it’s not Miami or Tampa.

Dubbed the “best coastal town” in America, travelers can don swimsuits and float on a big beach or horse around in a waterpark.

Have you ever heard of Stuart, Florida?

If not, you should visit it because it recently ranked number one as the “Best Coastal Small Town” by USA Today.

#1 SPOT

Stuart’s population is 18,664 and rises to 21,087 with winter visitors, according to the City of Stuart website.

Settlers first made the tiny town home in 1870, and then it was incorporated in 1914 and chartered in 1925.

It was also named “America’s Happiest Seaside Town” by Coastal Living Magazine in 2016.

Some of the town’s highlights are the St. Lucie River, Flagler and Shepard Parks, and the Stuart Heritage Museum.

Saugatuck, Michigan came in as the second-best coastal small town.

Key West, Florida followed up in the third spot.

Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Pismo Beach, California rounded out the top five.

Known as the “Sailfish Capital of the World,” Stuart has so much to offer off and on the shore.


BEAUTIFUL BEACHES

Stuart Beach is a top family destination in Martin County, according to Discover Martin.

Visitors can surf, windsurf, and snorkel in the water.

But if you want to dry off in the sun, volleyball and basketball courts are nearby.

Visit Florida called Bathtub Beach “a favorite beach for families and locals” because of its clear water and soft sand.

 It also has dunes and sea oats that will help protect the beach with 35,000 cubic yards of sand.

SAILFISH SPLASH WATERPARK

Stuart is also home to Martin County’s family-friendly waterpark that people of all ages can enjoy.

Sailfish Splash Waterpark is an affordable option because it offers day passes and senior citizen discounts all for less than $20 each.

You can have a great time without breaking the bank.

The waterpark features a four-story tall water slide, a 1,000-foot lazy river, a 253-foot closed flume “Speed Slide”, a splash area for kids, and a 300-gallon “Dump Bucket.

It is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, until late May.

Sailfish Waterpark also hosts all major statewide, high school swimming and diving meets, as well as NCAA-level winter training.

This helps boost economic prosperity and bring millions of dollars to Martin County.
