With less than five days until its official release, Space Marine 2 has all Warhammer 40K fans eagerly anticipating an experience that will portray the universe of this franchise like never before.
The lore of this popular role-playing game, now transitioning into a third-person action experience, is so vast that it should seize the opportunity to showcase many of the most impressive enemies of the IP. From the iconic Tyranids to the Chaos Marines, these are the nine enemies that should be present in the game for the fans to enjoy.
9 – Kronos
This enemy is basic, but he is still swift and lethal when attacking the regular soldiers of the Imperium fleet. The Tyranids function as a hive mind, where all follow the leader’s orders.
These soldiers are generally the front line of defense, trying to clear out as many human soldiers as possible to pave the way for larger, more deadly fleets. They are quick and small; they can easily escape bullets.
Few types of Tyranids have appeared in the Space Marine 2 game trailers. When battling through the early levels, it’s likely that players will encounter Kronos, one of the most commonly slain enemies at the start.
In our review we gave Space Marine 2 a whopping 10, and it also happens to do with these amazing enemy types.
You need these basic soldiers to quickly clear enemy-filled areas, even if it means sacrificing large numbers of Tyranids. There will always be smaller soldiers to destroy in the name of Imperium.
8 – Jormungandr
Another basic enemy, but much more deadly, specializes in tunneling to attack from behind and ambush enemies, catching them off guard and splitting their forces.
Known as one of the most useful soldiers in the Tyranid army, players are likely to encounter this enemy multiple times during intense bug-filled combat. The Jormungandr has more reach and may be more deadly than other smaller soldiers in the Tyranid army.
This type of enemy variation is one of the game’s strengths, offering a combat style that must adapt to all incoming threats.
The Tyranids don’t just have overwhelming numbers; their specialized soldiers can quickly destabilize the Imperium’s forces, using ambushes to disrupt military strategy. The different strategies and the larger numbers make these Tyranids specially deadly in combat.
7 – Leviathan
The Leviathan is a massive, bladed Tyranid soldier that can tear apart any Ultramarine who dares to confront it. This is one of the most formidable enemies in the insect army, and it won’t hesitate to destroy all soldiers it encounters in order to achieve its goal.
Standing taller than a typical Space Marine, its evolutionary advantage and attack speed make it a dangerous foe. Its blades cut metal with ease.
One drawback for this particular Tyranid is its slower speed due to its size. However, its claw reach can decapitate hundreds in a single strike.
When players face this giant beast, it’s best to keep your distance and shoot as many bullets as possible to weaken it before delivering the final blow. It would be a good decision for the studio to add this particular Tyranid to the fight; it can be a great battle.
6 – Chaos Space Marine
These Imperium traitors, also known as heretics, are Ultramarines who have defected to Chaos. They have the same skills and knowledge as a regular Space Marine, making them formidable enemies in battle due to their nearly identical training and battle skills that they can use for engaging in combat.
If encountered in large numbers, they present a considerable threat on the battlefield. The studio will probably add one Legion of these enemies.
These soldiers won’t hesitate to tear apart their former comrades, and they will use every weapon at their disposal to eradicate those who stand against Chaos. The Imperium has nine traitor legions, and the game could include any of them in its impressive enemy roster.
They are filled with rage towards the Imperium; like the traitors and heretics that they are, they will do all they can to destroy the Space Marines and the soldiers.
5 – Swarm Lord
This enemy is one-of-a-kind, created solely by the Hive Mind to design strategies for the Tyranid army to win. The Swarm Lord creature is highly lethal and a combat expert, making it one of the most dangerous in the Tyranid force due to its unique set of deadly skills.
It has destroyed entire civilizations with its cunning tactics and deadly attacks, posing one of the greatest threats to the Imperium as a bug commander.
According to legend, the Swarm Lord is the pinnacle of Tyranid evolution and experimentation to win more battles and conquer worlds. According to lore, this enemy is virtually immortal, reincarnating after death and retaining all the combat experience of its previous body.
Each time this formidable enemy dies, it becomes stronger and more skilled, making it even more lethal than before.
4 – Chaos Knights
These machine-like humanoids, fueled by the power of Chaos, are one of the most dangerous foes on the battlefield because of their structure, which leaves almost no visible weaknesses.
Being more machines than humans or Space Marines, their massive size and firepower make them lethal in combat. Space Marine 2 should take advantage of this opportunity to showcase these impressive enemies.
Since the Heresy, many knights have betrayed the Imperium and become unstoppable forces for Chaos.
While these characters may not appear in the game because their lore does not fit the story, it would be a great opportunity for fans to see them in action, at least as a reference within the story of the game. Chaos harbors some of the most powerful enemies the Space Marines could face.
3 – Red Terror
Red Terrors are some of the deadliest creatures in the Tyranid army, equipped with massive, razor-sharp claws that have incredible reach. Not only are they large, but they move quickly, slithering more like serpents than walking on feet.
According to survivors’ stories, this beast can devour a person whole in one bite. A normal soldier confronting the Red Terror is likely to face immediate death. Space Marine 2 should incorporate these enemies.
Its unique form allows it to escape quickly after attacking, choosing to strike in waves, kill many, and then disappear, only to return later to claim even more victims.
Its agility allows it to dodge attacks, making it one of the hardest enemies to defeat in the Tyranid army. The player will never be able to predict when the Red Terror will appear to capture the soldiers and any other potentially deadly targets.
2 – Deathleaper
The Deathleaper’s modus operandi is sinister, with most soldiers who encounter it never living to tell the tale. Those who survive often report discovering the lifeless bodies of their comrades, unsure of what transpired and unable to identify the attack from the shadows.
This Tyranid is so intelligent that it directly targets Imperium leaders, disrupting their ranks for a more precise and devastating attack.
The Deathleaper has evolved to the point of becoming a Tyranid leader itself, capable of commanding elite forces for strategic and devastating assaults.
It would make a fantastic addition to Space Marine 2, especially with its strategy of exhausting the enemy before delivering the final blow. These kinds of changes in the lore of the Tyranids are what make the game great for fans of this universe.
1 – World Eater
These enemies originate from a specific legion that may not be featured in the game, but they serve as a valuable reference. Completely consumed by the forces of Chaos, these foes are lethal and have destroyed world after world without mercy.
One of their key traits in battle is their overwhelming rage, which drives them to tear apart every opponent in their path in the name of Chaos.
These enemies are perfect representations of Chaos’s most powerful champions. Capable of wielding massive weapons, they can obliterate entire squads of soldiers with a single strike.
Their combat rage, speed, and power make them some of the deadliest foes the Space Marines could face. Chaos forces have a ton of different enemies to show in this Warhammer 40K game, which could be the perfect experience for fans.
